Air Ambulance presentation on 27 July 2015

We were treated to an excellent presentation by Charlotte Marson, pictured with President Paul Bonnett.

Charlotte explained the local Air Ambulance services for the area, with one helicopter based at Coventry, another at East Midlands airport and one especially for the transport of children  in need of rapid transfer to hospital.

The service answers approximately six calls per day at an average cost of £1,700 per mission. The service is not funded by government and relies on donations from charitable organisations and individuals. Paul is seen presenting a cheque for £1,000 on behalf of the club.

Just under half the missions relate to road accidents. When the weather prevents the aircraft from getting airborne, there are road ambulances available to be deployed. When an emergency call is received, the crew aim to be in the air within three minutes, complete with a doctor on board.

A most informative presentation which all 41 present will remember for a long time
